Why we love 'duration work'

Duration work (such as 'place' or downstay') teaches your dog how to hold command/ impulse control while the world is spinning.
Also it helps your dog’s brain de-escalate instead of being in a high excited state of mind. When dogs are in “place” or a “down stay” there isn’t much they can do but relax.

What do we do when we go to the beach? We tan and relax with a drink, so why do we expect our dogs to always be on the ‘go’? Our dogs don’t need to be doing ‘something’ all the time, just like us, they like to just enjoy the view sometimes.
